entry #4 - 6 months in & dealing with the winter blues
Happy 6 month anniversary to me and NYC. :)
It’s been a wild chaotic ride and I’d be lying if I said I haven’t been overwhelmed at times... but that’s normal right? Big changes come with lots of emotions and stress…not to mention NYC is one of the most expensive cities in the world to live in. Obviously, I knew that coming into it but damn…I’m learning firsthand how to budget and handle my money more than I ever have in life.
This winter was the first winter I felt like I had a case of the “winter blues”. I think it was because I’m not accustomed to the East Coast winters yet. Colorado has so much sunshine even on snowy days and I think I’ve taken that for granted. Having a bit of seasonal depression really made me prioritize my wellness and health more. I created a daily wellness checklist which really helps me stay on track and not just want to lay in bed all day. (Although there have been some days I’ve done just that). I love a good to-do list so this really helps me. I’ll be honest, it’s rare I check every single box every day, but even checking off one or two things really makes a difference I’ve found!
Daily Wellness Checklist
30 mins reading
20 mins stretching
5 min journal
10k steps
100 oz water
Vitamins (B12 and D3)
1-hour phone free
1-hour workout
Anyways... it’s midnight and I was in the mood to write so here we are, but now I think the melatonin I took is hitting and I don’t have much else to say. Other than that, thank GOD winter is (almost) behind us. I think next winter in NYC I'll just spend a month in St.Pete, FL, or something lol. The sunshine fuels me and if I don’t have it I’m a grump. Hence why taking vitamin D3 is ESSENTIAL for me.
NYC I still love you dearly, you’ve just been a little tough on me this winter. Spring WYA?
xo
